HHT acts primarily by inhibiting translation elongation, which disrupts protein synthesis crucial for cancer cell survival. This mechanism leads to the rapid degradation of several short-lived proteins, including Mcl-1 and c-Myc, triggering apoptosis in various cancer types, particularly in hematological malignancies such as acute myeloid leukemia (AML).
